Bread Pudding
A great way to stretch your dollars is to buy day old bread. There are many creative ways to used day old bread. My children love stuffing any day of the week, and of course there is always bread pudding.
6 slices day old bread
2 TBS butter or margarine, melted
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup sugar (you can use brown sugar)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cube bread and put in 8-inch cake pan.
Drizzle with melted butter.
In a mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Beat well. Pour over bread, making sure bread is totally covered. It will soak up the mixture.
Bake in oven at 350 degrees, for 45 minutes (or until the top springs back when lightly pressed.
Some out there like raisin in their pudding. If you do, add about 1/2 cup with the cubed bread, right in the beginning.
